Mountain bike designs
Mountain bike designs vary a lot, there are many design made for different environments and specific purposes, as you can imagine that the environment s vary a lot from place to place, so therefore the bike designs are made to accommodate the various location environments, conditions and terrains. For example on a beach you are likely to need less gears compared to a high country with lots of steep climbs. There are also fat bikes with extra thick tires that allow the bike to travel over snow, sand and sensitive ground covers of a national parks e.g. The fat tires do not damage the ground d cover as much due to the large foot print of the extra fat tires.
The designs for mountain bikes can be classified in
three categories based on suspension:
1. Hardtail .
A frame with no rear suspension,
often containing a front suspension fork.
2. Fully rigid .
This is a sub type of hard tail,
with a rigid fork.
3. Dual or full suspension.
These bikes offer a front suspension fork and a rear suspension that
are integrated into the frame.
4. Soft tail.
Offers a frame with a small amount
of rear suspension, normally less than a full
suspension frame.
The different designs of bikes in mountain biking
will offer you what you need for your unique style
of riding. You’ll want a different bike for
different terrain, such as cross country or
downhill. As the terrain changes, you’ll want to
make sure you have the right bike for the job.
